I tried something new today. I made bean burgers. Just for me, of course - I highly doubt that Dereck would be interested in eating a hamburger substitute ;). Actually, I was impressed with the recipe that I used. It had lots of garlic and seasonings in it, and while it didn't taste like beef (I didn't expect it to) it was so good that I was tempted to eat it uncooked :-D. It's part of my eating-healthier kick. Which may not last very long, but while it does...you know... It isn't that we eat super-unhealthy food. I make most of it from scratch (though I probly use more sodium-filled canned goods than I would prefer). The problem is more that we don't eat enough variety - and especially not enough in the fruits-and-vegetables category. So I'm experimenting, at least on myself. There's not much I can do with regards to Dereck's diet. Half the time he doesn't even have a chance to eat at home. My main goals are: 1)eat more variety, 2)eat less when I do eat and 3)eat less sugar. The last one is the most difficult, but I'm hoping to help myself out by drinking more tea. I'd say coffee, but I have a LOT more tea on hand than coffee; and besides, it contains less caffeine, which is better for Baby.
...who, by the way, seems to have recovered fully from last night - no bruise or anything. I can see a very faint mark from last night's incident, but only because I know where he got hit. *sigh of relief*
Hmm...I thought there was something else I wanted to post about, but I've forgotten now what it was...
Oh! I just remembered, while typing that! Since I once more have a usable library card (we paid off my whopping fine :-Z), I got online this morning and ordered in a whole bunch of books! I've been so bored lately that I decided to do something about it. Michael goes to bed early (often before 8), and after that I just putter around the house, watching more tv than I prefer to admit (since most of it, in my opinion, isn't really worth spending my precious free time on), playing games on the computer (which gets boring after an hour or so), and eating WAY too late into the night. It's all a part of my self-improvement plan (everybody laugh with me).
Anyways...my little boy seems to be keeping my busier than ever...better rescue the books from him - AGAIN!
